We are a mercury-free practice. However, many people still have silver/mercury fillings in their mouths from years past. These fillings are not particularly pleasing to the eye, and we know that by unavoidable design, silver/mercury fillings ultimately result in a weaker tooth structure. porcelain inlays and tooth-colored restorations (onlays) are used to create fillings that are not only beautiful (or unnoticeable) but also add strength to weakened teeth. These restorations are esthetically pleasing and very strong thanks to new bonding technologies.
Fortunately, silver fillings can safely be replaced with tooth-colored restorations. During your first appointment, we will remove the old filling and any damaging decay. We will then create an impression of the affected tooth which we will send to our dental lab. You will receive a temporary onlay to wear while your custom restoration is being created. When you return to our office, we will bond the your new filling to the tooth using a high intensity light. Your tooth is then polished for a beautiful, restored, and healthy smile. It only takes two simple appointments for a stronger smile that will last.
